Rock legends in Karabakh
The Dorians rock band held a concert in Stepanakert on September 13. Dereck Shirinyan, the Black Country Communion band member participated in the concert as well. Former member of the Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, and current member of the Black Country Communion Glenn Hughes was there as well.
During the visit to Stepanakert they also visited the Gandzasar church – one of the saint sights in Karabakh. The participants of the concert were inspired by the environment dominating in Stepanakert. “I love you. I am proud and inspired by the fact that I am here in Karabakh today – in this country rich of Christian values; in a country that was the first one to adopt Christianity. Thank you and thanks to the president of Karabakh for this warm reception,” said Glenn Hughes to the participants of the concert. This was an open air and free concert for a huge audience of thousands of people.
Glenn Hughes is the first rock star that had a concert in Stepanakert. The environment was festive in the central square of Stepanakert. Fans from Yerevan visited Stepanakert to be present at the concert too. There was a Chinese girl in the front of the audience; she had visited Stepanakert in the framework of the project and was taking a video of the concert with her mobile phone.
Before the concert the president of Karabakh Bako Sahakyan held a reception for Glenn Hughes, Dereck Shirinyan, the members of the Dorians rock group and Dr. Garik Israyelyan from the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias. The musicians have also met with the Church leader of Artsakh his holiness Archbishop Pargev.
Even though the road to Stepanakert was very long, on the visited the Gandzasar church as well. After the concert people gathered around the stars and were asking for signatures.
By the way, Dereck Shirinyan, who is also a producer, will support the Dorians rock band to come up with concerts. He is amazed by the voice of the group’s vocalist Gor Sujyan. They are going to prepare a CD and video of the concert in Stepanakert, as well as will have another concert in Alex concert hall of Los Angeles.
